How is my old truck worth?

As the publisher of a website about old trucks I receive a lot of mail asking me how much is a classic truck worth these days. Believe it or not, this is one tough question to answer.
First of all let me say that I don't know how much my truck is worth. I know what I paid for my truck and what I have spent restoring it. But to be honest with you I can't say that if I sold it today I would get all that back.

That's basically what happens with most old truck owners. They spend money rebuilding and restoring and they don't think about selling the trucks they have. They want to show their trucks and have fun with them, not sell them.

So, the real value of an old truck depends basically on two things: how bad the buyer wants to have it and how reluctant the seller is to sell.

It is important to say that the market for old truck is not growing because they are not making them anymore. If anything the market is shrinking because a number of trucks that still run are not being cared for and are coming to the end of their lives.

But let me clarify one thing: I am not saying that it would be impossible for you to find out exactly how much your truck is worth. You can do some research and find a similar vehicle and take that as a basis for you to estimate how much your truck is worth. The other truck will have to be more or less in the same In your condition is, of course.

But the best way to discover the real value of a vintage car or truck is for older people who see this as an estimator and are recognized on a regular basis. A good resource for specialists or the AACA Antique Automobile Club of America. There are chapters throughout the country and many of its members are experts who really know what they recognized. You did a great job and help a lot of people all the time. But the 'Service is not free, so be prepared to pay for it.

Regardless of the amount of money involved here is the main thing to know that an old truck that is not a good investment is devalued as much as not all new vehicles. Also, if you have an old classic car or truck and want to sell, take your time, because it is almost impossible to sell a vintage car on the spur of the moment, unless the price is very low, and have able to find a buyer, the money or the creditavailable.

And if you are a buyer, take some time, because a good deal in this field is hard to obtain.
